• Read the actual equipment instructions and terminal markings. Conductor material, size, preparation, and torque requirements belong to the installed product; a value remembered from another enclosure is not enough.
• Perform termination work only within the established safe electrical work condition and assigned qualifications. A torque tool does not make work on exposed energized parts safe or authorized.
• Use the specified suitable tool and follow the employer's calibration and handling process. Check units carefully because confusing inch-pounds with foot-pounds can seriously damage a connection.
• Record the required checks in the project handover documents. Do not claim a connection was verified when it was inaccessible or when the relevant information was missing.
• If a connection is questionable, refer it for qualified review under the manufacturer's procedure. Repeatedly tightening a completed terminal without instruction is not a substitute for a proper inspection.
• Crew exercise: apply this discussion to one actual location in today's assignment. Describe the sequence from preparation through cleanup, identify who could be affected, and agree what must be in place before the first person starts. Use a drawing or a safe observation point; do not create an exposure for the demonstration.
• Make the decision practical: name the person who will resolve missing information and confirm the controls. If the planned conditions change, stop the affected activity and obtain a revised plan. At the next briefing, review whether the agreed action was completed and what the crew learned.
